Faculty of Physical Sciences and Mathematics, University of Chile

The University of Chile is a national, public higher education institution which, with a commitment to excellence, is dedicated to educating individuals and contributing to the spiritual and material development of the nation, fostering leadership in the innovative development of science and technology, the humanities and the arts through its teaching, creative and outreach activities, with a particular emphasis on research and postgraduate studies.

In this context, the Faculty of Physical and Mathematical Sciences (FCFM) focuses on higher education and the development of the basic sciences, engineering, technological applications and innovation. Its mission is to develop and disseminate cutting-edge research and technological innovation in engineering and the sciences, to provide a well-rounded education for highly qualified professionals and outstanding scientists, with a strong commitment to the country, whilst maintaining an ongoing connection with society.

Beauchef 851

Beauchef 851 is a building complex that forms part of the Faculty of Physical and Mathematical Sciences. Opened in 2014, it comprises seven above-ground floors and six underground levels, and includes classrooms, laboratories, offices, sports and leisure facilities, a swimming pool, and parking areas.

One of Beauchef’s most iconic spaces is the Auditorio d’Etigny, named in honour of former Dean Enrique D’Etigny Lyon, who led the Faculty of Physical and Mathematical Sciences between 1963 and 1971. He made significant contributions to the development of the institution, science in Chile, and social justice.

This auditorium will welcome participants as the main venue for the International Conference on Space and Sustainable Development (CEDS 2026).
